The artist has donated the complete sum of his £25,000 award cash to the Music Venues Trust, which functions to preserve the Britain's grassroots music venues.

Fender was given the prize on 16 October as his new release the album was declared the outstanding release of the previous year.

He has opted to give the cash to the MVT, in recognition of the vital role small stages fulfilled in his beginning days.

"I personally wouldn't be doing my current career if it wasn't for all the performances I performed around the North East, and beyond, when I was beginning," stated the artist. "These venues are iconic, but they are in difficulty."

Since the start of 2023, over 150 of these venues have permanently closed – about one-sixth of the entire UK sector.

Over the past year, major artists such as Pulp, Coldplay, the singer Katy Perry and Sheeran have all aided the MVT in its attempts to help venues survive, by applying a modest fee to their ticket prices, which supports local stages.

Fender also took part, collecting more than £100,000 on his 2024 arena tour to support numerous grassroots venues across Britain.

These funds assisted venues that were confronting imminent closure due to difficulties arising from flooding, fires and family tragedies, as well as licensing issues, legal disputes and sound issues.

Additional spaces were granted monetary aid in improving facilities and sound and lighting systems that positively impacted artists and concertgoers.

"The notion that money from performances in big venues supports the smaller venues, where it begins for performers like me, is just logical," the star has commented.

Fender is among several artists to contribute his honor winnings to charitable organizations.

In the band won the trophy in 1996 for their release Different Class, lead singer Cocker stated that the group would give their prize money to the non-profit War Child.

During 2002, rapper and singer Ms Dynamite divided her bounty across a few charities, like the NSPCC and a Sickle Cell charity.

"I also gave a grand to the center, to their gymnastics program, because I trained in gymnastics when I was a child and they lacked new equipment," Ms Dynamite told outlets.

In recent years, the band gave their funds to the youth organization that developed their act, alongside other local music groups.

Also 1994 winners M People donated their prize to a multiple sclerosis charity after a friend was found to have the condition.

"Receiving the award was quite enough," said vocalist Small. "The money was the bonus but we could do without the bonus, because we had the honor. So our success touched the lives of others."

Last week, the trust revealed it had rescued several local spots in that region, by bringing them into public stewardship.

One venue in the city and the other in that location were purchased under the community ownership initiative, which is supported by the arts council and supporters who buy "ownership units" in the buildings.
