Nearly twenty-five thousand residences in Queensland's southeast found themselves without power on Monday's dawn after intense storm systems swept through the area, generating strong winds topping 109km/h.
Massive Frozen Precipitation and Broad Destruction
Locals witnessed large ice chunks as large as 7 centimeters in certain regions. Weather authorities confirmed that various areas across Queensland had been impacted by substantial ice precipitation.

Utility workers were attempting to repair electricity service throughout the impacted areas, with nearly 70 crews working to handle the widespread outages.
Victoria's Weather Woes
Simultaneously, approximately 1,000 energy customers in the southern state also faced energy failures after the metropolitan area recorded its wettest day in 18 months.
Rescue organizations handled nearly 600 emergency reports across the area, mostly for property damage but also for collapsed vegetation and inundation.

At one point on Sunday, in excess of 28k power users in the state were lacking electricity.
Weather Forecast
Humid circumstances were forecast to persist along significant areas of Queensland's east this next several days as a low-pressure trough continued to pull in damp air against the coastal areas.
The following day was expected to become the most rainy day, with continued storm activity predicted across various areas of both states.
Health Warning
Medical authorities alerted that there was an higher risk of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the northern rural areas, specifically given the ongoing climate situation.
