Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a wide array of characters, and a gripping narrative including angels, demons, and sinister influences expanding in influence within the city.
Note: Key plot points for the latest installment of the new season are included.
The Warrior Group Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and introduced the initial group of characters who will separate from the central cast to undertake their independent quest, distinct from the other two tables.
The combat-focused team includes Teor Pridesire (portrayed by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the start that maintaining everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
This explains, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Introduction, intertwining the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Warriors, Strategists, and Explorers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
As described by the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Initially, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander might look out of place, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these five characters are perfectly fit for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to head next after a brutal initial meeting with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the narrative’s action—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, invading Thjazi’s hideout, striking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then paid off his liabilities and escaped to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, above the urban center, with Teor’s brother pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Secondly, each adventurer has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure is familiar with Timmony and warns that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and The healer, having disobeyed his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their status as important members in the influential clan could help the team access locations they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, Teor swore a eternal obligation to Wicander for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city dangerous:
- The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The strong figure and The healer defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are partnered with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This leaves them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in search of the antagonist.
Future Episodes
Based on the latest episode’s Cooldown, we learn that the combat party will not appear next week, leaving the remaining eight players to assemble the Questers and Planners parties.
Viewers can look forward to finding out which adventurers will be assigned to which table in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
